Acadian Medical Center Now Providing Digital Mammography

9/29/2009

Eunice, Louisiana (September 29, 2009) Acadian Medical Center has expanded its health and wellness services available to women with the addition of the new Selenia digital mammography system from Hologic.

Digital mammography will allow us to provide our patients with the highest quality of care in the prevention and early detection of breast cancer states Butch Frazier, CEO at Acadian Medical Center.

Digital mammography allows the radiologist to view the x-ray image more closely zeroing in on suspicious or concerning areas, enabling them to make immediate decisions about additional images.  Digital mammography takes less than half the time of traditional film-based and the radiologist may review the images while the patient is in the examination room.

In conjunction with the digital mammography unit, Acadian Medical Center is also offering Computer-Aided Detection.  CAD provides a "second read" of the mammogram by a computer.  This assists the radiologist in making an accurate diagnosis, like spell check in word processing.

Acadian Medical Center provides a comprehensive scope of services addressing the physical, emotional, and educational needs of our clients.  Services include screening programs, diagnosis prevention, intervention, treatment, and management of many different diseases of the breast, and educational and support resources.

Each and every patient at Acadian Medical Center receives personalized care designed to meet her individual needs.  Our staff is highly trained and our equipment is state-of-the art, states Frazier.
